The ballroom was finished with Italian marble columns and a fireplace at either end, it was a least 60 feet long and 30 feet wide.

A guided tour !  the wallpaper you can see behind the  trophy mounts is original William Morris.

Front Entrance Hall at Polapit Tamar House, through the archway to the left, the great hall leading to the kitchen and then to the right the  library, drawing room, music room/dining room  and the ballroom., like the ballroom the great hall was just over 60 feet long.  The beautifully glazed door just opened once more into the great hall, on the right you can just see the panelled glass shelving letting more light into the dining room.

Kitchen (note the home brew beer !)

As you can plainly see, full of every mod con you can possibly think of !! The cooker was circa 1965, the sink sadly was not the original butler sink and the aga had been ripped out  (!!shock horror!!) as it was too "old fashioned"  you can see the original arched alcove it once sat in, proudly hosting the decrepit cooker, 3 working rings .. and one that sparked wildly if it was turned on accidently. The fridge was ours. There were, however, plenty of built in cupboards and the floor was lovely old oak ;)

The dark oak panel door led to an outer hall tiled with beautiful old Victorian floor tiles and a huge walk in pantry, which we used as a wood store.  Across the tiled floor was the most beautifully panelled octagonal room with floor to ceiling height glazed cupboards and drawers , it was the the 'Butler's pantry' and used to house the kitchen china, cutlery and possibly in the lower unglazed cupboards the coppers and pans.  I loved this room but it was so far from the rest of the house it never realised its potential, it was freezing in the winter having no form of heating, a little like the kitchen !  I used to skate around the floors in sheepskin soled slippers and leg warmers,  1) to keep warm, 2) to polish the floor.
